Infrastructure Planning Support Officer

About the opportunity

Byron Shire Council is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Infrastructure Planning Support Officer to join our Infrastructure Planning team.

This is a varied administrative role that supports the delivery of infrastructure planning projects and provides a professional interface between Council and the community. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, government agencies, and community members while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the team.

This position is a full-time term position (35 hours per week) until 30 June 2027.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing administrative and technical support to the Infrastructure Planning team.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and coordinating requests for service.
  • Preparing meeting agendas, minutes, reports and committee documentation.
  • Managing correspondence, Council resolutions, customer requests and records.
  • Assisting with tender administration and project-specific communications.
  • Processing purchase orders, invoices and creditor payments.
  • Liaising with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to support effective service delivery.
  • Maintaining registers, reporting information and administrative systems.

What you'll be doing

  • Qualifications in Business Administration, a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience in an administrative role.
  • Experience working in administration and/ or customer service environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A commitment to workplace safety, diversity and positive workplace culture.
  • A current Drivers License.

We offer:

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment in the range of $1,237.66 to $1,434.02 per week (dependent upon skills and experience).

Location: This position is primarily based at our Mullumbimby Office; however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
