About the role
As part of the Sustainable Development Team, the Development Support Officer delivers a high level of customer service in the provision of specialist planning advice in the development, construction and other related approval processes, including pre-lodgement enquiries and registration of development applications. The role provides direct administrative support to the two planning teams in terms of managing the development application process though the NSW Planning Portal including registration of development applications and issuing development consents. The role also assists other teams within Council with development matters as required.
About you
- Certificate IV in Local Government (Planning), Graduate Certificate in Development Assessment or equivalent demonstrated experience or similar qualifications in Development Support.
- Substantial administrative experience including proficient typing, implementation of information/records systems including accurate data entry and timely management of data, ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing official documentation, including the ability to generate both standard and unique correspondence.
- High level interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service and deliver quality service outcomes as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- High level organisation skills and ability to plan and prioritise multiple projects while consistently meeting agreed timeframes.
What you'll be doing
- Responding to counter, telephone and correspondence enquiries from developers, Council officers and the community etc., and providing information and clarifying Council's requirements on development, planning and environment policies and practices.
- Coordinating the booking of and providing administrative support to pre-lodgement meetings and internal Development Assistance Panel meetings including ensuring that all documentation is provided, preparing agenda and attendance requirements, taking minutes and providing response to participants through the Team Leader Pre-lodgement and Administration.
- Providing direct administrative support to the two planning teams in terms of managing the development application process though the NSW Planning Portal including registration of development applications, issuing development consents, co-ordinating external referrals and other relevant administrative tasks.

Location: This position is primarily based at our Mullumbimby Office; however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
