We are looking for:
Byron Shire Council is currently seeking a Companion Animal Services Supervisor. This role is a great opportunity to lead and supervise the companion animal officer team and provide a regulatory and education service to the community to ensure a harmonious relationship between domestic animals and livestock, humans and the environment consistent with relevant legislation, Council policies and standard operating procedures. The role will also provide support in community enforcement activities.
About you:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in animal care discipline, including ability to handle, care for, seize and impound companion animals and stock.
- Significant experience carrying out regulatory services, enforcement functions and applying investigative skills.
- Good working knowledge of all legislation relevant to the position including the Local Government Act and associated Regulations and the Companion Animal Act.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare briefs of evidence.
- Proven ability to deal with conflict in an effective manner to ensure good public relations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as in an animal care discipline, regulatory services and/or investigative disciplines (Grade 9)
- Experience in leading, coordinating and motivating a team (for Grade 9).
- Certificate IV Regulatory Services, Investigative Techniques or equivalent (preferred)

- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,568.10 to $1,816.88 per 38 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

This position is based at Mullumbimby however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
