About the Role
The Asset Management Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating Council’s asset management systems, frameworks, and programs to ensure assets are planned, managed, and reported in a sustainable, compliant, and financially responsible way.
The role provides specialist leadership across asset management policy, planning, data, and systems, ensuring asset information supports strategic planning, service delivery, audit compliance, and long‑term financial sustainability. The position works closely with infrastructure, operations, finance, and planning teams to integrate asset management into capital works, renewal, maintenance, and long‑term financial planning.
The role has responsibility for coordinating asset management activities across the organisation and leading a small specialist team to deliver high‑quality outcomes aligned with Council’s strategic objectives and community expectations. Please note this is a fixed term contract until July 2028.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in asset management, engineering, or related discipline.
- Strong understanding of strategic asset management and lifecycle planning in a local government environment.
- Proven experience developing, implementing, and continuously improving asset management systems and practices
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience coordinating specialist staff and cross‑functional teams
- High‑level capability in asset data management, analysis, and reporting, including the use of asset management systems and GIS
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
- A collaborative, outcomes‑focused approach with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within time and budget constraints
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Council’s asset management system, policies, and plans
- Coordinating asset management programs to support strategic, operational, and long‑term financial planning
- Maintaining accurate, reliable asset data to support governance, audit, reporting, and decision‑making
- Developing and managing forward capital investment, renewal, and maintenance programs
- Preparing reports, budgets, business cases, and performance information for Council and management
- Leading and supporting staff and coordinating asset management activities across the organisation
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including the community, on asset management and service levels
- Ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety, environmental, and organisational requirements
We offer:
- A maximum term, full-time position to 30/06/2028 (35 hours per week)
- Flexible working arrangements (work from home option up to 2 days per week post onboarding can be negotiated)
- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary Grade 11 in the range of $104,564 to $121,153 per annum (dependent upon skills and experience)

Location: This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
